Everything in her wardrobe, from designer favourites and vintage finds to her Rat & Boa dresses, is covered in paint splatters thanks to her impulse to create whenever the mood takes her, regardless of what she’s wearing. Here she tells us about how her art has evolved, the women that inspire her and why she loves her Rat & Boa pieces.

Growing up I always loved to paint realistic art, especially portraits and bodies. My mom was an artist back in the day and she painted a lot, both realism and abstract. I remember she had this book called How to Paint Humans and Animals or something like that and I loved to go through her sketches of women’s faces and bodies. That inspired me a lot and it was the beginning... as a kid I also used that book to learn how to paint as realistically as possible and concentrated on women. Surrounded by my sisters, my mom, my aunties, I got a lot of female influence while growing up. The forms in my present artworks used to be body parts of the female torso of my older paintings.
You’ll find paint splatters on my most expensive
pieces and I always ask myself, why am I like this?
